American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc. (ABPN)

Breaking News!
The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology has now made it easier for diplomates with a lifetime certification to participate in the new Continuous  Lifelong Learning Program (C-MOC). [more]

Lifetime diplomates who choose to join the C-MOC program will now have three (3) years to take, and pass, an MOC cognitive exam. Previously, lifetime diplomates were required to pass an MOC exam in order to participate in the C-MOC program.

In addition to the MOC exam, the diplomate is required to complete one stage of MOC activities within the 3 year period. This includes:

  • 24 CME hours of self-assessment activities
  • 90 Category 1 CME hours total (including 24 CMEs from SA activities)
  • 1 Performance in Practice (PIP) Unit (one clinical module & one feedback module)

This option is only available to lifetime diplomates who do not currently have any time-limited certificates in another specialty, or subspecialty, and who are not currently participating in MOC. The diplomate will be required to update their license information in the ABPN Physician Folios system, register for C-MOC and begin paying the annual C-MOC fee. In order to take advantage of this option, the diplomate will need to log into the Physician Folios system, click on the MOC Menu link and follow the instructions.

The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc.
