Systems Development Updates

The ABPN preCERT™ Credentialing System

img
The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has concluded beta testing on a new system that is designed to assist training program directors and residents prepare for credentialing prior to Board certification. The new system allows directors to build and track residents’ progress, including clinical skills evaluations, in preparation for application to the Board for certification. The system also facilitates communication between ABPN and training programs by allowing electronic notifications to and from programs and/or individuals regarding Board examinations and credentialing requirements. Utilizing this system will eventually eliminate the need for training program directors’ letters documenting their residents’ rotations, experiences, and graduation dates. Residents will be able to update personal information and view their training progress.

Future enhancements to the system include management of transfers between programs and tracking the training requirements that result from transfers. Ultimately, the system will allow for online submission of applications to the Board for initial certification examinations.

The ABPN verifyCERT™ Certification and Status Verification System

img

The ABPN has developed a convenient way to find ABPN board-certified specialists in your area through the ABPN verifyCERT™ Certification and Status Verification System. There are a few different search methods available including by name and "Search by Specialty/Location".
Diplomates can look up their certificate expiration dates and use information to plan MOC activities. Employers may be able to use the system as a credentialing resource.
